‘Daisy Jane’ (J. Hutchinson. 1998.83-93cm, M) A pale yellow self with green style arms  and a rich yellow star signal over green veining. It has a slight fragrance. Lovely soft colouring and light ruffling in this recent introduction from Janet. New to New Zealand

‘Going South’: (John Taylor, 1994, 110 cm, E-M) The standards are creamy gold, veined mustard. Darker creamy gold falls, heavily veined mustard, and greenish line signals on all petals. The petals can sometimes be flushed pink early in the season.

‘Hopelessly Devoted’: (H. Pryor, 2000, 109 cm, M) A unique, pale mustard-yellow self with strong green undertonings. Style arms are lime-green with lemon tips. New release in New Zealand this year. Excellent Show stalks. Limited supplies.

Flamingo Flamenco’: Water Sprite variety. (B. Pryor, 2002, 90 cm, E).  A lovely, raspberry-coloured self featuring an intense white sunray pattern around the golden steeple signals. The lime-green heart lends a cooling note to the petite, triangular-shaped blooms. New to NZ. A bright little iris which clumps up well, and has lots of bloom.

‘Peaches in Wine’: (H. Pryor, 89 cm, E) Imagine fresh peaches swimming in a sea of red wine! Standards are bright peach-apricot and falls are a deep, intense ruby-red. Style arms are peach with a yellow midrib. Lots of buds on well-branched, show-quality stalks. DeBaillon Award Winner 2006.  Very limited supplies this season.

‘Royal Embrace’: (H. Rowlan. 1983 81cm M.) A magenta rose self, with a small yellow line signal under self style arms. A smaller-growing variety, with upright standards on the first day, and a species look. Very pretty in the garden.

‘Festival’s Acadian’ (D. Haymon, 1989, 91 cm), L). The red purple standards frequently show a signal and yellow rim. Cream style arms are  veined red purple, and the slightly darker red purple falls are veined even darker, with yellow dots radiating toward the edges, yellow rims around the edges, and  yellow steeple signals. Limited supplies.

‘Professor Neil’: (J. Mertzweiller, 1990, 75 cm), M). The light coloured standards are overlaid with deep red veining and central line. The velvety dark red falls with creamy rim and reverse feature large brilliant yellow signals with eyelash edges. There is a  musky fragrance.

The long, lime steeple signals feature a strong yellow surround and are overlaid with an intense white sunray pattern. ‘Susannah Fullerton’: (H.Pryor 105 cm, M-L) A beautifully elegant dark ruby-red self with lemon rim and reverse, plus a unique lemon and white spray pattern around a strong lime steeple signal on all petals. Style arms are lemon, tipped ruby-red. Ruffled flowers are slightly reflexed when fully open - which shows off the unusual spray pattern star signal beautifully.

‘Honey Star’: (Janet Hutchinson, 1991, 87 cm, M) A creamy self with a light honey blush to all petals, deeper on the falls. The rich yellow star signal gives the cultivar its name. Very easy to grow.

‘Top Notch’: (C. Arny, 1980 107 cm), M. This older variety has stood the test of time, and is a quiet cultivar to blend with others in the garden. The light coloured standards are infused with medium red, and the deeper pinkish red falls feature deep yellow dagger-shaped rayed signals.

‘Our Dorothy’: * (B. Pryor, 2002, 100cm M-L) Falls open lemon, with a cyclamen-pink rim. Standards are pale lemon, rimmed cyclamen-pink. Styles are apricot, blushed pink. The entire flower changes to a pink bitone on the second and third days. Ruffled and truly beautiful.

Frances Elizabeth’: (S. Rix, 1957 61 cm). This historic NZ bred cultivar is a purplish red-bronze self, with paler standards featuring a dark mulberry-purple spine. The clear gold signals are surrounded by deeper red-bronze veining extending down the blades of the falls.  It was the first recipient in 1965 of the Mary Swords De Baillon Award outside America.

Jazz Hot’: (H. Pryor, 1994, 95 cm, M-L).  This ever-popular, smoky red self really stands out in the garden. Each petal has a white rim and pale reverse. Lime green style arms feature a red tip. Merlyn Rouge’: (L. Stockley, 2003 90 cm), M). The standards  are  pale rose with deep rose veining. The falls are a medium rose with deep rose veining darkening toward edge, and have pale yellow arrow signals veined green. The whole flower is lightly ruffled with a slight spicy fragrance. NZ bred and appearing again after an absence from the catalogue.
